Endpoint Security Media Encryption Disable

Chandler, AZ, October 31, 2013– . today announced that the United States Navy has granted an Interim Authority To Test (IATT) the SAIFE® Mobility Suite on the Navy’s Special Communications Requirements Division’s (SCRD) RDT&E network. The  provides secure voice, messaging, data, and device management on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices, including smart phones and tablets. The anticipated resulting Authority to Operate (ATO) will enable use of the SAIFE Mobility Suite in a wide Navy deployment, making it the first software-only secure mobility solution for off-the-shelf devices approved for use on a Navy network.

The SAIFE® Mobility Suite is comprised of SAIFE® Mobile for secure voice and messaging; SAIFE® Mobile Device Management (MDM) for managing and securing mobile devices; and SAIFE® Connect for secure data-in-transit and protection against denial of service attacks.

SAIFE Mobile is an Android-compatible, software-only solution that delivers secure voice, messaging, data-at-rest, and data-in-transit over commercial, untrusted networks. SAIFE MDM provides an STIG-compliant solution for provisioning and controlling mobile devices, enabling government and military “bring your own device,” or BYOD, initiatives. SAIFE Connect provides a VPN solution that eliminates overlooked vulnerabilities affecting other VPN solutions and removes the potential for observant malicious attacks exploiting insecure two-way communications.

The SAIFE platform uses FIPS 140-2 validated NSA Suite B cryptography software and patented SAIFE security technology. Built on this framework, SAIFE Mobile, SAIFE MDM, and SAIFE Connect meet stringent military standards for securing communication (voice, messaging, and data) between mobile devices and offer military-grade cryptography and authentication.

The SAIFE framework’s software enables devices to securely send authenticated, encrypted control data, ensuring that only the governing administrators can access the device. Integrated PKI certificate management is provided by the SAIFE Management Console. Global communications are provided through SAIFE’s Trusted IP Relay Network (TIPRNET®) infrastructure, which provides protection against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, multi-endpoint interoperability, and a worldwide secure network on public infrastructure.

“The government faces a strong dilemma in that they desire to utilize COTS devices for communication and information sharing initiatives, but commercial devices and networks are inherently insecure,” said Darren Cummings, CEO and Founder of SAIFE. “The SAIFE Framework uniquely enables the use of COTS devices for both commercial and government enterprises, providing secure, interoperable voice, data, messaging, and device management. Granting an IATT to SAIFE® represents the first step towards a new availability of highly secure and authenticated voice and messaging for DoD communications, addressing their current advanced threats to protected information. Our experience is that the U.S. Government needs complete device control and assurance that the managed devices only respond to authorized users. We have spent the past several years developing a common framework with their policies and governance needs at the forefront, making it easy to adapt COTS into their environment.”

“The SAIFE Framework applies to devices well beyond smartphones,” explained Ty Lindteigen, Chief Technology Officer at SAIFE. “Anything with the need for protected data and identity and the need for secure communication via the Internet or IP packets will benefit from this advancement.”
