Don’t be the next victim of Cryptolocker!

Posted on by
There is a devastating new ransomware attack floating around the internet called Cryptolocker, and it is BAD NEWS! This ransomware is typically spread thru bogus email attachments as that purport to be from shipping companies as tracking information and/or from financial institutions confirming a wire or money transfer.  DO NOT OPEN THESE ATTACHMENTS! The Cryptolocker ransomware will encrypt all of your personal files and will then show you a message stating you have a limited time to send the criminals a hefty payment, up to $300 to decrypt your files.  They usually give you up to 72 hours to pay the ransom, else your files will be destroyed forever by an encryption that cannot be defeated. Take the warnings seriously.  The files that are encrypted cannot  be recovered!   If you believe you are infected, DO NOT FOLLOW THE CRIMINALS INSTRUCTIONS!  Call Lance at (208) 406-1268 immediately! Current anti-virus software is having a difficult time detecting these infections. There aremethods of reducing the risk of getting the Cryptolocker ransomware… DO NOT open attachments from unrecognized senders. Make certain your anti-virus software is fully up to date and functional. Another, very effective method of reducing the risk of this threat is by restricting the execution of the ransomware via software restriction policies.   Technician To Go offers a threat assessment and reduction service for a minimal fee. Call Lance at (208) 406-1268 for more information.
